Kevin's Point of View by Del Shannon

Kevin Tobin is a relatively ordinary 12-year-old dealing with the aftermath of his father's death in a mountain biking accident near their home in Boulder, Colorado. To escape from his emotional turmoil, Kevin has developed his imagination into a dangerous foil and a powerful ally. While he antagonizes his sister through his superhero antics on an average Wednesday morning, his ability to escape inside a character's head become critical to his survival after his life is once-again turned upside down a year after his father's death. A mysterious package arrives in the mail, Kevin and his best friend are hunted down by a ruthless villain set upon world domination, and after enlisting Kevin's teenage sister and her pizza-delivery boyfriend in a battle for control over time itself, the secret of Kevin's whole existence is revealed to him by a source we never expected.

Review:

4- Great!

This book is defiantly an adventure! It went so many different ways and took me on one amusing ride that was for sure. Kevin’s Point of View is defiantly a book for all ages to enjoy. It taps into our imagination in some wacky ways (while your following Kevin’s imagination and the story as well).

There were so many different characters that were captured perfectly with so many different personalities (if that makes sense). I loved Kevin and his many imaginations he was just so fun to read and kept the story going. All the secondary characters were well rounded and also enjoyable to read.

This book was hilarious to say the least, I found myself laughing out loud more than once. The book captured my attention in the beginning, but around the middle I kind of lost interest a bit simply because of how long the chase was, then my attention picked up then again at the end and held until it until the last page.

If you want a good laugh and one hell of an adventure I would pick up this book.

Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake

Just your average boy-meets-girl, girl-kills-people story. . .

Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.

So did his father before him, until his gruesome murder by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father's mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.

When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn't expect anything outside of the ordinary: move, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he's never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, but now stained red and dripping blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.

And she, for whatever reason, spares his life.

Review:

5- Amazing!! I want to read it again!

I loved this book! I can finally see what people keep going on about. This story was completely different to what I thought it would be, but I have to say that this is one of the best ghost stories that I have read in ages.

I was hooked from the first chapter of this book; the entire thing was perfectly planned out. The plot was hypnotising I could not put this book down I just needed to find out what happened next. I loved the atmosphere, the horror aspect really set it just right. And one thing that I always treasure in books is character development and for me I was amazing.

I loved Cas, I loved reading his story. His perspective was so much fun to read and with all the horror at times I would find myself laughing out loud at something that he would think or say. All the characters and secondary characters were well rounding and interesting to read.

This story was effortless to read and so entertaining, just don’t read it right before bed when you’re nearing the end of the book (just my little warning). I can not wait to read the next book in the series to see what happens next. Bring on ‘Girl of Nightmares’.
